US Cyber Command logo. Cracked Code.

Posted by EM @ KING.NET On 7:15 AM 0 comments
I read an article in Wired.com regarding on how you can read the US Cyber Command code around the logo (9ec4c12949a4f31474f299058ce2b22a).

Here's the step I did to get this code.

  • Visit the website http://www.md5hashgenerator.com to generate the MD5 hashed code.
  • In the String box, cut this statement (USCYBERCOM plans, coordinates, integrates, synchronizes and conducts activities to: direct the operations and defense of specified Department of Defense information networks and; prepare to, and when directed, conduct full spectrum military cyberspace operations in order to enable actions in all domains, ensure US/Allied freedom of action in cyberspace and deny the same to our adversaries.) and paste it.
  • Click Generate MD5 Hash, and you will see your MD5 Hash.

I forgot my password in my LinkedIn and I'm trying to retrieve it. The security checks CAPTCHA words are not readable, c'mon two words to type is ok as long as I can read it. Here's a sample captured "security checks".

1st images:
These security checks help us prevent unauthorized access to your account.
Get a new challengeGet an audio challengeHelp
Type the characters shown in the image above (not case sensitive).

I don't know about you, but I can't read this message so I clicked refresh, and got this new CAPTCHA words.

2nd refresh.
These security checks help us prevent unauthorized access to your account.
Get a new challengeGet an audio challengeHelp
Type the characters shown in the image above (not case sensitive).

A little better compared to the previous CAPTCHA security, but still not able to answer the second word. Maybe I read it wrong. So I refresh again hoping to see a better words for security check.

3rd refresh:
These security checks help us prevent unauthorized access to your account.
Get a new challengeGet an audio challengeHelp
Type the characters shown in the image above (not case sensitive).

Maybe, not my lucky day to get an easy two words security codes (CAPTCHA), so I gave up and leave the website.

How many visitors do you think have decided to leave after frustration of reading the security checks (CAPTCHA)? I have no statistic, or any reference to support this story, but I'm sure I am one of them.

Add a printer attached to the network

Posted by EM @ KING.NET On 6:50 AM 0 comments
Adding a printer to the network is a simple task to complete but you forgot this knowledge if you don't use it. So this is a simple guide on how you can add a printer to your network active directory.

I normally assign static IP Address to the printer to avoid conflict and management purpose. If you don't have this information you need the assistance of your IT Network Admin. For example, the IP Address is 192.168.10.210 assign to our new HP LaserJet printer. When you power-up your printer for the first time, it will pick-up an IP Address from the DHCP server. All you have to do is change this IP Address, and then we are ready to add the printer to the network.

Howto disable file folder synchronization?

Posted by EM @ KING.NET On 5:37 PM 0 comments
Windows XP synchronizing to the server.

A customer had asked me to disabled the synchronization of her workstation.

A brief history of this request. Every time she log-off or shutdown her workstation, the workstation is synchronizing to the file server. This is not a bad process but added delay when you are ready to go home from long hours of staring to your workstation.

Her "My Document" folder was set to the network drive, for example \\KINGNET\johndoe, where KINGNET is my domain network and johndoe is the user. The Windows XP, VISTA or Windows 7 have the option to make this folder disabled, yes it is enabled by default.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home PremiumSo when you change the location of user "My Document" from drive C to LAN network drive H, the files and folders will create a CACHE copy in the My Document folder. This will synchronize the files and sub-folders every time you log-off to your network to provide up to date copy. This is perfect approach to provide offline copy to your mobile users, assuming they are using a laptop or a netbook.

And now, if you want to disable this feature to your workstation users. Here's the procedure.
- Open the Windows Explorer,
- Click on Tools, Folder Options
- In Folder Options, click on Offline Files tab, uncheck "Enable Offline Files"

You need to restart your workstation to apply this changes.

Post here if you have a follow-up questions.

Peter Schiff (Euro Pacific Capital) pointed out obvious issues as a sign of recession risk and no body listen to him.
  • too much consumption and borrowing, he recommended to stop consuming and start producing again as cure to stop recession.
  • home prices completely unsustainable, temporary low of adjustable mortgage rate (ARM)
  • foreigners around the world lending us money for years, we can't afford to pay
  • it is not just subprime it's entire mortgage market
  • next financial mess: auto loans and credit card debt
Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything (P.S.)Arthur Laffer of Laffer Investment, "he bet that Peter Schiff is WRONG", "you just way off based, there is nothing out there".
Tom Adkins of Remax Fairlawn, will increase 10% home value opposite to Peter Schiff assessment.
Mike Norman of BizRadio Network Host, "have no idea what Peter Schiff is talking about" and he agree with Tom Adkins 10% increase assessment. And he continue to laugh while Peter Schiff address the questions.
Ben Stein, suggested "perfect storm for buyer", said "a subprime problem is a tiny problem"
Charles Payne of WStreet.com, said "the worst is over"

At least we know now that someone (Peter Schiff) identify these obvious signs years ago and no body listen.

This is a very disturbing foreclosure statistics courtesy by NeighborWorks America. I would like to share to our readers.

Homeowners Facing Foreclosure
The Mortgage Encyclopedia: The Authoritative Guide to Mortgage Programs, Practices, Prices and Pitfalls, Second Edition

  • Every three months, 250,000 new families enter into foreclosure. - Mortgage Bankers Association
  • One child in every classroom in America is at risk of losing his/her home because their parents are unable to pay their mortgage. - Based on information from the Mortgage Bankers Association.
